Nydia Armendia-Sánchez is a children’s book author based in California. Her books include NOT FAR FROM HERE, FRIDA KAHLO’S FLOWER CROWN, and the forthcoming picture books, THE WOMEN BEFORE US (Candlewick Press, 2026), VROOM, VROOM VAMONOS (Scholastic, 2027), and DESERT CANTOS: THE STORY OF LINDA RONSTADT (Abrams, 2028).
Nydia was awarded the Sustainable Arts Foundation Illustrated Children’s Book Award and received an Honorable Mention for the International Latino Book Awards.
Her storytelling is inspired by her children as well as her Guatemalan and Basque roots. Nydia strives for inclusivity and diversity in all her creative endeavors.
