Nydia Armendia-Sanchez is a California based picture book writer and artist. She writes bilingual children’s books and is also focused on her first love – art. Of Guatemalan and Basque roots, she enjoys highlighting inclusivity and diversity in all her creative endeavors. Nydia earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Pitzer College. In 2006, she and her husband, Luis, moved to Spain for three years where she taught ESL and also studied the art of window dressing! She draws inspiration for her stories, and art, from her two highly imaginative children, her travels, and her husband (who also happens to be her biggest supporter).
